Tottenham Hotspur have made contact and enquired about Como playmaker Martin Baturina, but the initial approach has already been rebuffed by the Serie A side, who are unwilling to part with their 23-year-old Croatian.
Como have placed an €80m (£69m) price tag on the attacking midfielder, a valuation that comfortably exceeds the level Tottenham and rival Premier League suitors had been preparing to offer.
Reports indicate prospective bids in the region of €50m to €55m (£43m to £47m), figures that fall well short of Como’s asking price and have prompted the rejection.
Spurs are not alone in their admiration. Aston Villa and Bayern Munich have also made firm enquiries, while Leeds United reportedly had a €30m bid turned down by Como back in January 2026.
Baturina only joined Como in the summer of 2025 from Dinamo Zagreb in a deal worth an initial €17m to €18m, plus a further €5m in potential add-ons.
He signed a five-year contract running until 2030, handing Como significant leverage and little incentive to sell a player they view as central to their project.
The midfielder enjoyed a standout debut campaign in Italy, registering eight goals and four assists in 34 appearances across all competitions, including six goals and three assists in 29 Serie A matches.
His playmaking helped Cesc Fabregas guide Como to a historic fourth-place finish in Serie A and Champions League qualification, raising the stakes around any attempt to prise him away.
Baturina has further enhanced his profile at the 2026 World Cup, featuring in all three of Croatia’s group-stage matches and scoring a goal against England.
For Roberto De Zerbi, the Croatian represents an appealing creative addition, but Tottenham will need to significantly increase their valuation to even open serious negotiations.
With Como holding firm on €80m and Champions League football to offer their own player, Tottenham face a difficult decision over whether to return with an improved offer or pivot to alternatives.
