Justin Sammons, the Zimbabwe head coach, heaped high praise upon Shubman Gill. In the absence of key India stars who have just finished their successful T20 World Cup campaign, India are going to be led by the teenage sensation. This is a crucial series for Gill as he is believed to be the next captain of India.
On Saturday, 6 July Sammons, the coach of Zimbabwe declared that the batsman was a praiseworthy individual and that the records of Gill’s were self-explanatory.
“Shubman is an excellent cricketer, I first met him when I think I was with the Proteas. We were in a test series against India. It was December 2021. Although he did not play in the games, you could tell his commitment and professionalism when I saw him practicing in the nets during that test series as I was really impressed by this. And like I say, his record speaks for itself,” the Zimbabwe coach said.”
The coach was also careful of them- other batsmen of India like Rinku Singh and Shivam Dube. Dube participated in the T20 World Cup during which he managed to score a spectacular run against South Africa before the world cup ended.
“They’re exciting, they’re dangerous. They have proven records against their names. It’s an amazing opportunity for us ,I think as a youngster growing up you always dream of playing against the best in the world,” the coach said.
In this series, Riyan Parag is set to play his first game for India Sammons said that Zimbabwe had followed Riyan Parag and knew what a danger he was. “We can’t take away from the fact that Riyan Parag is a dangerous individual. He had a great IPL and proved that he is worth it. This is yet another exciting prospect for India. Again, it’s another opportunity for our guys to test themselves against the best,” he concluded.
