Carlos Alcaraz enjoyed the best season of his career in 2025, winning two Grand Slam titles and the year-end world number one trophy.
The Spaniard, who won one of the greatest matches of all time in the French Open final, pipped Jannik Sinner to the year-end world number one spot and will now look ahead to the Australian Open in January.
Alcaraz has been taking some time to relax during the offseason, attending various sports events in Miami – including an Inter Miami football game, and a Miami Heat basketball game.
The 22-year-old will return to the court soon: he is set to play in American exhibition events on December 7 and 8 – something for which he has been criticised after his own complaints about the intensity of the tennis schedule.
Alcaraz’s preseason return date was also confirmed on Wednesday.
Carlos Alcaraz is set to practise with Flavio Cobolli during the preseason
On Wednesday morning, Spanish outlet Marca reported that Alcaraz is due to begin his preseason physical training on December 13.
The outlet also reported that Alcaraz will be accompanied by world number 22 Flavio Cobolli.
Cobolli, who reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals earlier this year, is one of the most promising young talents on the ATP Tour.
Recently, Cobolli played a key role in Italy’s third consecutive Davis Cup triumph. The Italian star won all three of his singles matches, including a title-winning comeback victory against Spain’s Jaume Munar in the Davis Cup final.

Italy became the first nation to win three consecutive Davis Cup titles since the USA achieved the feat in 1972. The USA won five straight titles from 1968 to 1972.
Carlos Alcaraz praised Flavio Cobolli earlier this year
After winning his French Open second-round match in May, Alcaraz heaped praise on Cobolli, noting how talented the Italian is.
Alcaraz said: “He has the level to be there. He is a really great player as well. I was lucky to have practised with him a lot of times, he came to the academy throughout the pre-season there for a few weeks.
“I am really happy about his title in Hamburg recently. Two titles already in this season, so I am pretty sure he is going to keep building his path and keep growing as a person and a player. He is going to become a really good tennis player.
Do you think Carlos Alcaraz should be competing in exhibition events during the off-season?
“I am really happy with the progress. He has got it. He is a really talented player. He has really good hands and touch. Physically, he is great as well, moving great.
“He was struggling with finding the right shots in the right moment, he was probably a little bit inconsistent – like me sometimes! But I think he is getting that, and he is becoming a great player.”
