There are quite a few podcasts dedicated to covering the Los Angeles Lakers, which makes sense since they are one of the most popular franchises in professional sports.
“Lakers Collective” is one of the biggest Los Angeles-themed shows, but it is unfortunately losing one of its hosts, Jason Timpf. Sadly, his departure is due to some serious health issues that he announced on Tuesday.
Lakers Podcast Host Jason Timpf Steps Away From Popular Show
Timpf was a co-host of “Lakers Collective” alonside Trevor Lane and Jovan Buha, and he posted a video on X announcing that he has stepped away from the show given his recent health scare.
“Quick announcement, I’m no longer going to be appearing on the Lakers Collective podcast @LakersHMA,” Timpf wrote on his post on X. “@TrevorLane & @jovanbuha are amazing, the show is in great hands and will continue to explode. For those who care to know why, I explain in this video.”

Timpf revealed that he has been battling a virus and myocarditis, and he was bedridden for six days around the NBA Finals.
“I got just an absolutely gnarly viral illness. Like, the worst viral illness I’ve ever had in my life. It was absolutely brutal,” Timpf said. “During that process, I ended up getting a condition called myocarditis, which is essentially inflammation of the heart muscle. It’s caused, like, some palpitations and other crap that I have been dealing with.
“It’s made it so I can’t play basketball. I barely touched a basketball in the last three weeks, which has been, as you can imagine for a guy like me, absolutely brutal. But I ended up having a kind of… a situation where I had to go to the hospital several times.”

Timpf added that he went through a battery of tests and all of those came back clean. He also said that there is no medication to address myocarditis and that he just has to wait until the condition passes.
Timpf also added that due to his condition, he missed a number of shows that he usually records. The health scare also made him want to cut back on the number of shows he records each week, which is why he ultimately decided to leave “Lakers Collective.”
“I think a big part of what happened this year is I just took on too much,” he said, noting that he was doing 16 to 17 recordings per week during the playoffs.
Timpf officially announced that he was stepping away from the show, but he insisted that it will be in good hands moving forward with Lane and Buha still co-hosting it together.
