ACC announces inaugural T 20 Asia Cup

The Women’s Under-19 T20 Asia Cup was formally launched by the ACC on Wednesday during the ACC Executive Board Meeting that took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Additionally, the ACC mentioned that there would be a Women’s U19 Asia Cup every two years, which is an important tournament that precedes the ICC Women’s U19 World Cup.

Shah presided over this decision at the ACC Executive Board meeting and she assumed ICC chairmanship on December 1.

By providing emerging female cricketers from Asia with the chance to compete on a global stage, this tournament is expected to provide essential experience and readiness and thus enhance Asian teams’ performance internationally.

Besides, this pioneering initiative is expected to improve the visibility of women’s cricket; thereby contributing towards its development and popularity within the region.

For the first time ever, the ACC has created a clear path for young female cricket players, showing its strong dedication to supporting gender equality and developing cricketing skills at all levels.

“Today is a big day for cricket in Asia. The start of the Women’s U19 Asia Cup is a huge step forward, giving young women cricketers a chance to improve their skills and show off their talent.

“This new program helps build the future of women’s cricket in Asia, and we are excited about the long-term benefits it will bring, not just to our member countries, but to the entire cricket world,” said Shah.
