Former wrestler Tyler Mane, known for his roles in “X-Men” and “Halloween,” recently revealed on his Facebook account that he has been diagnosed with breast cancer. He mentioned that this condition is extremely rare in men, affecting only about 1% of the male population, but he has already begun treatment.
Mane initially felt the urge to keep his diagnosis a secret due to the stigma attached to it. However, he learned that men tend to be diagnosed at more advanced stages because breast cancer is not widely discussed or screened for in males. He shared that his doctors dismissed his concerns, and it was only because his wife encouraged him to have a lump removed that he sought further treatment at an early stage. Mane pointed out that 1 in 755 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, and if caught early, the disease is very treatable.
In the wrestling world, Mane performed under the ring name Big Sky and had a stint as an enhancement talent for WCW in 1993. He also wrestled for CMLL, All Japan Pro Wrestling, and NJPW, as well as in Portland Wrestling. He is best known for his on-screen performances, playing Sabretooth in the first “X-Men” film and reprising that role in “Deadpool vs. Wolverine.” Additionally, he portrayed Michael Myers in Rob Zombie’s “Halloween” films.
This is what Tyler Mane wrote, “Yep. I have breast cancer. And yep, it’s super rare. Only 1% of breast cancers are men.
I’ll be honest, my first reaction was to keep it secret. I mean it’s kind of embarrassing. But then I found out that men are more likely to be diagnosed in advance stages BECAUSE it’s not talked about and not looked for. In fact, my doctors all dismissed it and it was only because my wife pushed me to get the lump removed that I got in early.
So let’s start talking about it! 1 in 755 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime and if caught early, it’s VERY treatable. Time to answer the Wake Up Call! Like, Save, Share, Comment let’s spread the word!”
