MJF didn’t lose his hair since he beat Darby Allin to win the AEW World Championship. However, that’s not the only surprising outcome in Queens, as Kevin Knight turned heel by attacking Allin after the loss.
MJF survived a brutal title vs. hair match to win the world title, his third overall. The match featured plenty of big spots, including Allin accidentally busting his head open after leaping off the scaffolding set up at the entrance. Allin was loaded onto a stretcher after MJF celebrated his win, and it looked like the new champion was about to attack his incapacitated opponent.
Kevin Knight ran out for the save, chasing MJF out of the ring. Despite Knight seemingly coming out for the save, it was all a ruse as Knight splashed Allin on the stretcher, tipping it over.
It was mentioned by the commentary team that Knight and Allin had trained together as they tried to explain what just happened. AEW tried to get Knight to comment on the motivation for his attack. However, he simply ignored their request and walked off.
AEW Double or Nothing’s main event was notable for other reasons
The main event match featured a brutal spot that saw Darby Allin pay tribute to Mick Foley towards the end of the bout. Allin placed MJF on the barber’s table on the stage and climbed the scaffolding before doing Foley’s “bang bang” taunt. Allin hit a coffin drop through the table.
However, Allin busted his head open due to hitting it on the corner of the stage. This was the only notable use of blood on the show, as a recent report stated that the New York State Athletic Commission wouldn’t allow it.
