5-Minute Tag-Team Eliminator Challenge

The duo send things down to Excalibur and Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness at ringside, who prepare us for our first match of the evening. Zayda Steel and Viva Van are in the ring and will be taking on Divine Dominion in the latest 5-Minute Tag-Team Title Eliminator Challenge.

The bell sounds and we’re officially off-and-running with this one. Steel and Van fare better than anyone else has in any of the previous challenges, as they fight all the way until only 15-20 seconds remaining. Divine Dominion hit a double chokeslam.

They follow up with the cover for the win. They take out Christopher Daniels afterwards. Tay Melo and Anna Jay run out with kendo sticks. The run off Divine Dominion to make the save, and stand tall to end the brief post-match scene.

Wasting no time, we head directly into the ring entrances for the six-men involved in our next match. Trios action features The Opps taking on The Death Riders. Out first comes The Death Riders trio of Claudio Castagnoli, Daniel Garcia and Wheeler Yuta, accompanied by Marina Shafir.

The Opps make their way out next. Daniel Garcia gets things off to a hot start for The Death Riders team. Shibata tags in, however, and he begins to shift the offensive momentum in the favor of The Opps, as the crowd comes to life in the background.

Castagnoli tags in and he and Shibata go face-to-face, before doing their own version of Don Frye vs. Yoshihiro Takayama from PRIDE FC days, only with short-elbows instead of hockey punches. Shibata wins out and hits a running dropkick to a seated Castagnoli in the corner.

After a few more minutes of back-and-forth action, we see things come to a conclusion when the numbers game plays a factor, leading to The Death Riders picking up the win.

MJF Confronts Mick Foley

Now we cut to Renee Paquette and Mick Foley again, this time in the ring. They briefly discuss the hair vs. title main event pitting Darby Allin and MJF. Foley outright mentions the hair plugs that MJF got in Turkey. The crowd chuckled at that. Paquette says, “You’re not wrong!”

As they continue talking, MJF’s voice is heard. Out he comes with a microphone in hand and a scowl on his face. Paquette bails out of the ring. MJF says no one is being shaved bald tonight, as fans loudly chant “Bald! Bald! Bald!”

MJF tells Foley he’s famous for failing in all of his biggest career moments. MJF says Darby Allin is going to fail tonight, too. He tells Foley he reminds him a lot of Allin, and again points out how they always lose when it counts. Foley says he hasn’t felt this feeling in a while.

Foley says he has lost a lot of matches. He says there’s a young man called Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson who might feel different. Foley says in all of those matches, even he didn’t have a loss that ended in 2 minutes and 15 seconds. Foley says Allin is gonna steal the show, the AEW title and MJF’s hair.

Foley says he didn’t realize this until he got up close. But he notices MJF has wavy hair. He says that’s good because it’s waiving goodbye tonight. The crowd ooh’s and ahh’s. MJF low-blows Foley. The crowd gasps as Foley drops.

Allin runs out to make the save. Foley tells Allin he didn’t realize until recently he inspired his career. He recalls Jon Moxley telling him to watch Allin years ago at an independent show. Foley tells Allin watching him succeed is like watching himself succeed.

He says Allin represents all those who people think are weird because they’re shy. “So tonight, win one for the weird ones!” He tells Darby to show everyone he has what it takes not just to be a champion but a legend. He finishes by saying, “Bang Bang Darby Allin! Bang Bang!”

AEW World Tag-Team Championships (‘I Quit’ New York Street Fight)
FTR (c) vs. Cope & Cage

We get some final hype from the broadcast team before one final hype video package closes out The Buy-In pre-show. From there, we shift gears and get ready to finish out the rest of the show this evening on pay-per-view. We are told a big match is kicking things off.

Now we head down to ringside for our opening contest. The commentators remind us that this will be an “I Quit New York Street Fight.” Per the match stipulations, if Adam Copeland and Christian Cage lose, they can no longer wrestle as a tag team.

The legendary duo make their way out and head to the ring to an enormous reaction from the New York crowd in attendance. The reigning, defending champions make their way out next, as FTR duo Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler come to the ring. The bell sounds and off we go.

All four guys exchange shots right away and brawl in and around the ring. Cage drops Harwood with a clothesline and follows with right hands in the corner. Cage bites Harwood’s head and drops him to the mat before delivering a right hand.

Cope is in control of Wheeler on the outside, but Harwood comes back and drops Cage with a chop. Stokely gives Harwood some barbed wire, but Cage kicks it away and drops him with a reverse DDT. Cage wraps the barbed wire around the rope and drop toe holds Harwood into it before standing on his back.

Harwood doesn’t give up, and then Cope delivers a shot to Harwood as well. Cage takes the referee’s belt and white Harwood with it, and then Cope whips both Harwood and Wheeler with it. Cage chokes Harwood with the belt and hangs him over the top rope, but Wheeler makes the save.

Harwood slams Cage shoulder-first into the ring post and Wheeler hits him with a chair. Wheeler slams Cage’s injured arm on the chair, but Cope drops Wheeler with a ladder shot. Cope suplexes Harwood onto the ladder. The crowd gasps. Cope suplexes Harwood onto the ladder and sets up a table.

FTR keep control and spike piledrive Cope onto the Spanish commentary table. Wheeler grabs a cinder block and tries to smash Cage’s arm on the ring steps, but Cage dodges it.

FTR put Cage’s arm into the block and smash it with a chair, but Cage doesn’t quit and instead says he banged their mothers. Wheeler losens the top rope and FTR set up for another spike piledriver, but Cage sents Harwood into the corner and drops Wheeler with the Killswitch.

Stokely finishes loosening the top rope and gives it to Harwood, but Cage counters with a Spear. Cage chokes Harwood with the rope, but Wheeler breaks it up and chokes Cage with barbed wire. FTR deliver the Shatter Machine and Wheeler jabs Cage in the throat with a wrench.

Cope comes back in with a Spear to Wheeler, and then delivers one to Harwood as well. Cope hits Wheeler and Harwood with a chair and goes to hit Harwood in the head with it, but Harwood begs off and Wheeler says he will say it. Stokely gets into the ring and hits Cope with the watch he stole from Cage.

FTR hit the Shatter Machine, but Beth Copeland returns and beats down Stokely on the outside. Harwood slams Beth into the steps, and then lights the table on the outside on fire. Stokely grabs Beth and takes her to the apron, but Beth pulls him into the way and Wheeler spears him through the flaming table.

Back in the ring, Harwood sets Cope up for a conchairto and tells Cope if he wants to see his daughters again to say it. Beth delivers a low-blow to Harwood, and then Cage delivers a shot of his own. Cope drops Harwood, and then Cage applies a Scorpion Deathlock.

This leads to Cope also applying a cross-face, and then Beth gets Spike from under the steps at ringside for a big pop from the crowd. She gives it to Cope. Cope rakes at Dax’s dome with it. Dax screams “I Quit.” Cope and Cage are the new champs. They celebrate with the titles as Beth gets emotional at ringside.

The challenger is now in control as he brings Okada to the corner, climbing up to the most dangerous rope…and his distraction with the crowd allows Okada to fight back for just a moment, but Takeshita ends up sending the champ to the outside. He hits the ropes for speed and lands a tope onto Okada.

He brings him back into the ring as he goes to the corner for a running knee. Okada blocks it, setting the challenger up for a seated neck-breaker. Okada holds onto the wrist, bringing the Alpha back to his feet and to the ropes for a dropkick. He goes for another Rainmaker lariat, but the challenger counters with one of his own! He fires up as he lands a Power Drive Knee and goes for the cover, but the fighting spirit kicks in as Okada kicks out at one.

Takeshita fends him off one more time, firing back with shots before landing a Raging Fire for the win. Takeshita celebrates in the corner with the title as the rest of the Don Callis Family make their way to ringside. Okada makes it to his feet as the Family enters the ring.

Takeshita is looking for a handshake from the former champ. Instead, it looks like things may blow up within the Family when Kyle Fletcher’s music hits to a huge pop. The Protostar makes his way out, suited up only to take his blazer off as he makes a beeline for the ring.

He steps through the ropes, staring down Takeshita and then Okada…with the latter leaving the ring at the behest of Don Callis, the rest of his Family following suit. This leaves us with Kyle and Konosuke in the ring. They share a hug and the show moves on from there.

Stadium Stampede
Team Jericho vs. Team Ricochet

It’s time for Stadium Stampede!

Representing Team Jericho will be Chris Jericho, Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin, Jack Perry, Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson, and Nick Jackson. For Team Ricochet, it will be Ricochet, Bishop Kaun, Toa Liona, Mark Davis, Andrade El Idolo, Clark Connors, and David Finlay.

We cut to a vignette showing the arrival of the Don Callis Family, The Dogs, and The Demand to the stadium for our next match. They all look eager to get things going as we head back to ringside to welcome the team out for Stadium Stampede.

As the squad enters the ring, we cut to a vignette introducing their opponents using “Devil’s Dance” by Metallic. We head back to ringside once more as Jericho’s “Judas” brings the squad out to a big pop, the crowd singing along as they head to the ring. “We hurt people” chant spreads.

Things get wild straight out of the gate. We get a four-angle shot of around the ring, before the good guys get together in the ring to target Ricochet. The Elite and Jericho get some shots in on the baddies in the corner. Perry sends Davis to the outside with a rana and the rest follow suit. Jericho, Omega, and the Bucks pose before The Demand blindside them. Jericho and the Bucks turn it around with Walls all around.

Perry levels Davis with a vacuum full of powder. Nick sets up a table as he goes after Finlay, and Matt joins him as they climb up the turnbuckle. Connors pulls Finlay off the table as they escape through the crowd, and we cut to somewhere backstage as GOA and the Hurt Syndicate go at it.

Benjamin drives off Kaun while Lashley looks for a Hurt Lock on Liona. Toa fights him off and we see Lio Rush nearby, harkening back to days gone by as Bobby backs away from the man now known as Blackheart. Liona gives out to Rush, who bites his hand. Liona takes a boot from Lashley.

Omega and Jericho go after Andrade as we cut elsewhere, seeing the Bucks and Connors go at it. We get a two-angle shot as Andrade fights back, while Clark gets sent into the escalator with a double superkick. Andrade starts to take a picture with a fan in the crowd, but she steps aside allowing Luchasaurus to get a selfie instead.

This gets Andrade riled up, and he ends up taking mist to the face by Luchasaurus as Ricochet brings Jericho back toward the ring. Jericho fights back, and Ricochet heads to the corner as Jericho pulls out a bag from under the ring. He opens the bag up, revealing a whole lot of tennis balls.

Ricochet tries to fight back but takes a suplex into some of the tennis balls. Jericho goes for the Walls but gets caught with a Death Valley Driver onto the balls instead, as we cut to catering where Davis fends off Perry before dealing with someone in the area.

Andrade and Kenny show up to go at it, but El Idolo gets sent into Satnam Singh! He gets angry and shouts “food fight” as, well, a food fight breaks out in catering. Kenny and Andrade end up leaving as we head back to ringside. The Dogs have brought the Bucks back here, but the fight heads up the ramp.

They set up Connors in a shopping cart, putting the trashcan over his head before Matt sends him down the ramp into a superkick by Nick. They celebrate until Toa comes down to attack the Bucks. He sends Matt away before putting Nick in a shopping cart, allowing Kaun to land a dropkick sending him down to the floor.

Matt takes the cart to the back by Liona after, as Shelton comes down for the save only to take a shillelagh shot by Finlay. Lashley comes running out now, but takes a shillelagh shot by Finlay as well before Connors catches Bobby with a spear. We cut to another part of the stadium as Ricochet goes after Jericho.

He has a tennis racket. Jericho fights back to send Ricochet to the floor, opening the door to reveal Luther…who gives him a comically large racket. Jericho makes easy work of Ricochet with this, setting him up for a flurry of balls from an automatic serve machine. He goes for the cover but gets two. We head back to ringside.

The Dogs go after Matt Jackson and Shelton Benjamin before they turn it around for a series of suplexes. Double Northern Lights, and they’re well in control as they slam a trashcan against the head of David Finlay. Superkick party ensues from the Bucks.

Toa doesn’t go down until Shelton joins them for a triple superkick followed by a Lashley spear. We cut to outside the stadium, where Mark Davis seems to be retreating to a golf cart. He notices a note on the seat attached with a knife, and he reads it: “Wait here, a–hole!”

He may or may not have dodged what comes next, as the Jurassic Express bus comes speeding up the ramp and crashes into the golf cart. Perry leaves the bus, surveying the damage as we head back to ringside. Young Bucks get caught on an attempt to do a double moonsault, before El Idolo gets caught with a snap dragon suplex by Omega.

Kenny follows up with a V-Trigger as Lashley looks for a German suplex off the apron on Toa Liona, eventually sending him through the table. Lashley gets back up, going after Davis before hitting an exploder and sending Mark through the barricade.

Perry is back at ringside and takes lands some shots of his own as the Bucks send The Dogs through two tables. Omega with a One-Winged Angel sends Andrade through the table as Ricochet gets caught by the group. BTE Trigger by the Bucks, but Kaun shoves him out of the line of fire of a Judas Effect and Lionsault for the win.

Winners: Team Jericho

AEW World Championship (Hair vs. Title)
Darby Allin (c) vs. MJF

It’s main event time!

The video package for our final match of the evening airs now to get us ready for Darby Allin vs. Maxwell Jacob Friedman in a title versus hair match. We get some cool entrances and very unique ring introductions by Justin Roberts, including profanity, for the champ and challenger.

Darby catches the challenger with a side headlock takeover for two, and gets a second one for a near-fall. This early advantage goes away as MJF turns it back around on the champ, sending him into the barricade on a dive attempt before landing a powerbomb on the apron. He then hits Darby with a Heatseeker back in the ring for a two count of his own.

He follows up with a powerbomb into a backbreaker, but this only gets a nearfall. Darby starts to fight back now, cutting him off in the corner as he goes for a sleeper hold on the turnbuckle…only for MJF to send him crashing into the canvas. Darby is back up as is MJF, and they trade strikes until the challenger is dropped down hard.

Darby goes for a Coffin Drop, but MJF rolls to the outside for safety, only for the champ to land a dive through the ropes sending him to the announce desk! Darby steps onto the table before dropping down, bringing MJF toward the ring to set him up on the apron.

Some clubbing blows from the champ now, and he goes up top for a guillotine Coffin Drop…only for MJF to evade at the last second, causing the champ to collide with the hardest part of the ring before falling to the floor! MJF pulls the ring steps away, setting Darby up against the apron for the maximum platform possible before setting the champ up for a package piledriver onto the side.

Darby falls to the floor, and the ref checks on him as MJF is laying on the floor trying to recover as well. He finally gets to his feet, bringing Darby back into the ring. He calls for a side headlock takeover, only for Darby to send him to the ropes. With the ref distracted, Darby lands a low blow as revenge for what MJF did to Mick Foley during the Buy In, but a side headlock takeover of his own only gets a two count.

He sends the champ to the corner, with MJF trying to fight back before Darby sets him up for a Scorpion Deathlock. MJF struggles for a bit, managing to get to the ropes. Darby breaks the hold to go up top, but a Coffin Drop lands the champ onto the knees of MJF. Both men are down with the challenger getting to his feet first.

Darby gets sent to the ropes, only to catch MJF with a Scorpion Death Drop driving the challenger into the canvas. Darby crawls to the ropes to get himself back up, and he climbs the turnbuckle before dropping down. MJF catches him with a side headlock takeover and this leads to an exchange of near-falls.

Darby with a sunset flip for two, and we go back and forth for near-falls. Roll through by Allin for a two, MJF counters with a backslide for one, and Darby ends up connecting with a Code Red for the most definitive of nearfalls as both men finally break free of each other’s grip in the process.

They’re slow to get back up but manage to, only for MJF to be sent to the outside by the champ. Darby goes for a dive through the ropes, only for MJF to pull a camera operator into the line of fire! Ref checks on the cameraman as medics come down to aid him, and the ref finally begins the count before MJF decides to go back after the champ.

He hoists Darby up, bringing him to the barber chair on the stage. He grabs the clippers, the ref telling him to bring Darby back into the ring, and this gives the champ an opening, as he cinches in a front guillotine on MJF! He finally lets go when MJF seems knocked out.

He puts the challenger onto the barber’s table before glancing at the scaffolding on the stage. This gives the champ a crazy, possibly awful idea as he wears MJF down before climbing up the scaffolding. He gets to the top, lining up his trajectory with a “Bang Bang” out of respect for Cactus Jack.

From there, he leaps off for a Coffin Drop that sends MJF through the table. Darby is bleeding, seemingly cut by something on the way down as he drags MJF down the ramp and into the ring. Darby falls backward for a moment but recovers, climbing up top for a Coffin Drop for a super close two-count.

Now we see he is struggling to get back up however, and this allows Darby to cinch in a Scorpion Deathlock, before he drops to the mat, breaking the hold from what seems to be passing out. MJF starts to get back in control, before taking a Scorpion Death Drop by the champ.

Darby goes up top for a Coffin Drop, but gets intercepted on the turnbuckle by the challenger, who counters into an avalanche tombstone piledriver. He follows up with a side headlock takeover and covers him for the victory. We have a new AEW World Champion. And he’s better than you … and you know it!

Once the match wraps up, MJF is given the title. He celebrates in the corner as doctors check on Darby Allin in the ring, ultimately loading him up on a stretcher. MJF stops them to pose over his fallen foe with his newly won title.

Kevin Knight runs out but ends up hitting a UFO Splash on Allin, turning heel. Knight stares Allin down. MJF applauds Knight’s actions. Doctors load Allin back up on the stretcher as the show wraps up. Thanks for joining us!
