A lot can change in 3 weeks- Dolphin were unchanged on the team of 3 weeks ago and Clonmel had made 2 personnel changes.

Dolphin could not achieve the same level of intensity from their 12 point win at the same venue, it was the home side who were the pace setters and scored a converted try in the opening minutes.

Clonmel kept the pressure on and Dolphin found themselves 20-0.

The wind was across field but in Dolphin’s favour in the 2nd half, Sam Boyle broke Dolphin’s duck, his 9th of the season. A converted try from Craig O’Connell narrowed the gap to 20-12 and it was very much game on.

Joey O’Connor, last season’s AIL top scorer of all Division’s made it 23-12  with a penalty. Three mins later it was 30-12 and hopes of a play off final were all but extinguished. Clonmel’s celebrations had started and they had a deserved comprehensive victory at the 80m mark.
