The future of AJ Lee remains a major talking point in women’s wrestling following her high-profile appearance on the grandest stage of them all. Though she did not rule out future matches, the WWE universe might have to wait a significant amount of time before witnessing AJ Lee return to national television.
According to a fresh report regarding internal creative expectations, management does not expect AJ Lee back on the road in the immediate future. This news follows her grueling match at WrestleMania 42, where her historic run as the Women’s Intercontinental Champion officially ended at the hands of Becky Lynch on night one.

The veteran performer addressed her future directly during the post-show media scrum, focusing heavily on what the high-stakes match meant to her on a personal level.
“It’s been my favorite WrestleMania experience so far,” AJ Lee stated. “Maybe my favorite match so far. Even though I lost it, I got to have my family here. For a lot of them, it was the first time ever, and what I wanted to do with that entrance was represent all the fans who have been with me from day one; who have been wearing my outfits, my shirts and my shorts and my shoes and skipping along with me the whole way.”
The emotional address made it clear to the locker room and the audience that AJ Lee does not look at this defeat as a permanent retirement from the squared circle. Instead, she viewed the match as an opportunity to fix a past regret regarding how her initial run with the company ended a decade ago.
“That was for you. I love you. I never got to say goodbye last time and I felt bad about that. So this is not goodbye. But, I’ll see you soon. I hope.”
Even though her heartfelt message left the door wide open for a future storyline, there is currently no official timetable for her next appearance. For the time being, creative plans for the women’s division on WWE RAW and other brands will move forward without AJ Lee. Fans will have to remain patient as the former champion takes time away from the ring.
