Albion College invites applications for the Director of Tennis and Head Coach position. The Director of Tennis will serve as the Head Coach of both the Men’s and Women’s teams and  will manage the Ungrodt Tennis Center. Head Coach responsibilities encompass all aspects of coaching both Men’s and Women’s Tennis teams. This includes (but are not limited to) scheduling, conditioning, technique training and mental preparation. In addition, the position also works closely with Admissions in recruiting students, and supervises all assistant tennis coaches, volunteer coaches, and team managers.

The primary function of managing the Ungrodt Tennis Center is to ensure that all aspects of the Ungrodt Tennis Center are handled in an efficient and effective manner. This includes all scheduling of court hours for both Albion College use and rental use, purchasing, and working with Facilities & Operations to ensure proper upkeep and maintenance. The position will need to work closely with the Associate AD in making sure that the Ungrodt Center functions seamlessly as part of the Dow Recreation Center. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload with sensitivity and confidentiality. Must contribute to a campus climate that emphasizes a commitment to working with individuals and groups from a variety of identities, cultures and backgrounds.

FLSA Classification: Salaried / Exempt / Administrative & Instructional (Coaching) Exemption
Employment Status: At-Will

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Master’s degree preferred
  • 2 to 3 years experience in collegiate coaching or 4 to 5 years of combined experience as a collegiate tennis player and competitive coach; NCAA experience preferred
