Alfredo Battles Through Challenging Day at Watkins Glen for Viking Motorsports – AFA Motorsports

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (May 9, 2026) — Anthony Alfredo and the No. 96 Metalico Chevrolet team battled through a challenging afternoon Saturday at Watkins Glen International, continuing to fight for position throughout the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series event for Viking Motorsports.

Alfredo rolled off 15th in the field on the historic road course and immediately settled into a competitive rhythm during the opening stage. The No. 96 Metalico Chevrolet showed solid pace early, allowing Alfredo to work his way forward and narrowly miss a stage point with an 11th-place finish in Stage 1.

As the race transitioned into the second stage, changing track conditions and strategy adjustments created additional challenges throughout the field. Alfredo continued to battle inside the top 20, bringing the No. 96 machine home 16th at the end of Stage 2.

The final stage turned into a survival race for many teams as aggressive racing and slick off-course conditions created chaos around the famed Watkins Glen road course. Alfredo was running a solid race before getting forced off track during the closing laps, costing the team valuable track position they were unable to recover before the checkered flag.

“Had a solid race going before getting shoved off track in the final stage,” Alfredo said after the race. “We just couldn’t recover the track position after that. We’re focused on getting a stronger result at Dover next weekend and continuing to fight our way back in the points standings.”

Alfredo and the Viking Motorsports team ultimately crossed the line in 24th position after another determined effort against many of the series’ powerhouse organizations.

While the finishing position did not fully reflect the effort put in by the No. 96 team, the weekend continued to show the determination of the growing Viking Motorsports organization as they continue competing against many of the sport’s top-funded teams.

Alfredo and the No. 96 Metalico Chevrolet team will now shift their focus to Dover Motor Speedway on May 16th as the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series season continues.
