A significant step forward for coach development in Quebec has been taken as video becomes a central tool for better observing, understanding, and teaching table tennis. On January 19, Tennis de Table Québec held a community training session as part of the National Coaching Certification Program.
Under the supervision of Rémi Tremblay, trainer and Director General of the Federation, twelve coaches from various backgrounds gathered to deepen their knowledge and begin or continue their coaching journey. This training helps participants meet the minimum coaching requirements for events such as the Jeux du Québec.
A New Pedagogical Approach
For the first time, the AlloPingpong platform served as the primary educational support in an official training session. The “Learning to Play” video series allowed participants to:
- Analyze Technique: Coaches could slow down the action and rewind to dissect essential technical elements such as racket grips and basic positioning.
- Study Movement: The videos helped break down footwork and counter-attack techniques for both forehand and backhand.
- Bridge Theory and Practice: Instead of focusing solely on theory, participants observed, questioned, and adapted concepts to real-world training contexts.
This integration marks a major milestone for AlloPingpong, demonstrating that well-utilized video is a powerful tool for developing better coaches and supporting the entire table tennis community.
