Americans Abroad Midweek Rewind: Pepi, Wright, and more

Ricardo Pepi is picking up steam with three weeks of PSV’s season left to go.

Pepi scored twice on Thursday in PSV’s 6-1 Eredivisie victory over PEC Zwolle, logging 81 minutes in the result. The U.S. men’s national team forward delivered his first multi-goal performance of the new year and first overall since September 13, 2025.

Only eight minutes went by before Pepi broke the deadlock at the Phillips Stadion, heading home Esmir Bajraktarevic’s cross into the back of the net.

After conceding an equalizing goal six minutes into the second half, PSV would turn up the heat as Pepi added his second goal of the night.

Bajraktarevic once again delivered a dangerous cross into the box and Pepi rose high to head in off the crossbar.

A Simon Graves own goal added to PSV’s advantage before Bajraktarevic added his first of the night for 4-1.

Couhaib Driouech made it 5-1 shortly after before the former USMNT and USYNT midfielder Bajraktarevic added the sixth and final goal ahead of stoppage time.

Pepi now has 16 goals on the season in all competitions and is one tally away from tying his career-best for a single campaign. He will have three final chances to break that mark when PSV closes its league schedule against Ajax (May 2), Go Ahead Eagles (May 10), and FC Twente (May 17).

In England, Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson both featured in Bournemouth’s home draw with Leeds United. Haji Wright scored as Coventry City sealed the EFL Championship title.

In Spain, Johnny Cardoso logged a full 90 minutes in Atletico Madrid’s road loss to Elche.

In France, Korbin Shrader started in Lyon’s league victory over Dijon. Lily Yohannes featured off of the bench.
