During this past Wednesday night’s Spring BreakThru episode of AEW Dynamite, a surprising title change occurred when MJF lost the AEW World Championship to Darby Allin. This loss came just days after MJF had successfully defended his title against Kenny Omega at Dynasty. MJF’s unexpected defeat led many to speculate that he might be going off AEW television for a while to fulfill some film commitments.
However, that doesn’t appear to be the case. Following an interview with the former AEW World Champion this past February, Self Made Pro Wrestling reported that sources close to the situation have indicated MJF is not scheduled to film a movie at this time. The report also confirmed that MJF is expected to appear in upcoming episodes of Dynamite and will be included in main event plans for Double or Nothing.
Regarding MJF’s defeat last Wednesday night, it was described as a rather anticlimactic and humiliating end to what had been an impressive championship reign. Essentially, he was dominated by Allin, who executed four Coffin Drops before pinning MJF with a headlock takeover. MJF has since reacted to his loss on Twitter (X).
