Backstage Update on WWE’s Latest Batch of Roster Cuts on April 24th & Who Were Key Decision Makers For Releases – TPWW

As noted before, twenty-four talents from WWE’s main roster, NXT, WWE EVOLVE, and WWE LFG brands are currently known to have been released or departed from the company this past Friday. Among the notable names who were released or departed included Kairi Sane, Aleister Black, the Motor City Machine Guns, and the entire Wyatt Sicks group from the main roster and Andre Chase and Tyra Mae Steele from the developmental brands. The most recent confirmed release was WWE developmental talent Carlee Bright.

Fightful Select reported that despite the rumors and speculation of WWE’s parent company TKO Group making the calls for the cuts, their sources within WWE stated that it was WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque, WWE President Nick Khan, and WWE’s Talent Relations department who were the primary decision makers.

In regards to the reason for the latest round of roster cuts, It was reported that those spoken to stated that the majority of the releases were to make way for new talent.

It was also reported that the possibility of SmackDown reducing to two hours for weekly shows in the near future is believed to have been another reason for the recent roster cuts.

It was also reported that talents released are still under contract with WWE and main roster talents will become free agents after 90 days and NXT talents will become free agents after 30 days.

In regards to the releases targeting the NXT developmental brand, it was reported that a number of those releases were made due to new Performance Center signings are expected to be announced soon.
