Baron Corbin may be publicly shutting down WWE return rumors, but that apparently has not changed what people inside the company expect to happen.
False Finish reports that WWE sources still believe Corbin is headed back to the company soon despite Corbin recently denying the speculation himself.
“Despite Corbin refuting the reports publicly, WWE sources tell False Finish that they officially expect Corbin to return to the company ‘soon.’”
The update adds even more fuel to the growing belief that Corbin’s WWE comeback is getting closer. Last week, Dave Meltzer stated on Wrestling Observer Radio that Corbin’s return had been “heavily talked about” behind the scenes. Shortly after that, WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select reported that multiple WWE sources referred to Corbin as a “locker room favorite” and indicated they wanted to see him back. There has also been growing belief internally that Corbin’s return is lining up now that his outside commitments have wrapped up.
Corbin, however, recently jumped onto social media to poke fun at all the rumors spreading about his future. After reports surfaced claiming he had quietly finished with several promotions following his MLW run alongside Donovan Dijak as part of The Skyscrapers, Corbin sarcastically joked that apparently somebody else must secretly be running his schedule without telling him.
“I accepted 8 shows in Europe. My eye is still swollen from Australia. I also didn’t know i was done with some of these companies. Who ever is making my schedule needs to let me know this shit. I thought it was me but apparently it’s not.”
The response immediately grabbed attention because Corbin never fully denied WWE interest while still mocking how quickly the rumors had spread throughout wrestling media.
Since leaving WWE in late 2024, Corbin rebuilt momentum through independent appearances and his MLW run as part of The Skyscrapers alongside Donovan Dijak. Even during periods where fan reactions were mixed, Corbin remained respected internally for being dependable and capable of working multiple roles on television.
Whether Corbin returns to SmackDown, RAW or somewhere else entirely, it definitely sounds like people inside WWE expect him back in the company sooner rather than later.
