Eight baseball teams from six countries descended on Attnang-Puchheim for the annual Finkstonball tournament and music festival, which also features a women’s fastpitch tournament. The event was found in 1997, and takes place each spring over the Pentecost long weekend.
Baseball Jobs Overseas’ (BBJO) Globetrotters all-star squad and the host club Athletics were perfect through group play, before BBJO dispatched Budapest Red Wolves 8-4 in one semifinal and Attnang-Puchheim survived a nail-biting semi with Croatia’s Vindija Varaždin, 3-2. The Globetrotters then earned their fifth consecutive Finkstonball title with a 7-2 victory in the final.
