Ben Whittaker returns to action this Saturday in Liverpool against Argentina’s Braian Suarez.
Whittaker (10-0-1, 7 KOs) meets Suarez (21-4, 20 KOs) in a light heavyweight showdown at the M&S Bank Arena.
The 2020 Olympic silver medalist was a late addition to the card, but was later elevated to main event status after Callum Smith withdrew from his scheduled clash against David Morrell through injury.
Whittaker won the WBC Silver light heavyweight title with a brutal first round knockout of Benjamin Gavazi in November on his debut with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing.
‘The Surgeon’ is ranked at three with the WBC behind world champion, David Benavidez.
Suarez has been beaten four times in his career, including against Lyndon Arthur, who he dropped before getting knocked out in the 10th round.
