Adamas Howrah registered their first win of Bengal Pro T20 2026, defeating Kolkata Royal Tigers by seven wickets (DLS method) at the Eden Gardens on Tuesday.
Kolkata is burning under extreme heat, with the temperature around 37°C but feeling close to 50°C because of the high humidity. Yet, the dream of playing at Eden Gardens is enough to keep Bengal’s cricketers going. The city is hosting the third season of the Bengal Pro T20 League. The players are facing not just their opponents but also the harsh weather conditions. Despite a spell of drizzle, heat remained intense, which made every run, wicket and catch a test of endurance.
Adamas Howrah Warriors have adapted to the conditions now after facing a barren run. They brought intensity and discipline on the field from the first over. Their bowlers ensured Kolkata Royal Tigers struggle to find rhythm during their innings.
While Sujit Kumar Yadav stole the show with his three-wicket haul, a solid start was given by Writtick Chatterjee and Kanishk Seth in the powerplay. The duo picked up a wicket each with the new ball and restricted Tigers to 26/3 in the powerplay, including the wicket of captain Abhishek Porel.
Both bowlers were economical and maintained pressure from the start, with early breakthroughs helping Adamas Howrah Warriors take control of the innings.
As wickets fell at a regular intervals, some late fireworks from Ronit Ghosh helped Tigers post a respectable total of 149/8 in their 20 overs. He remained unbeaten on 71 off 37 balls, smashing six stunning sixes at a strike rate of 191.89 which gave the Tigers something to defend after a slow start.
Defending champions, Adamas Howrah, needed 150 runs for their first win of the 2026 season, but soon after the first innings, it started raining in the City of Joy, interrupting the game. The covers were bought immediately and within minutes the entire ground was covered.
Despite the rain interruption, the crowd stayed back and waited for the game to resume. Earlier, they had endured intense heat, and sat back while it drizzled, highlighting Bengal’s passion for cricket. Whether it’s hot or rainy, fans rarely miss an opportunity to watch the sport they love.
Due to the rain interruption, the target was reduced to 122 runs in 15 overs under the DLS method. Adamas Howrah got off to a shaky start as they lost two early wickets, but captain Shakir Habib Gandhi led from the front with a composed unbeaten 52 off 32 deliveries. His match-winning knock, which earned him the Player of the Match award, was also well supported by Kazi Junaid Saifi (34) and Shashanka Singh (32*). Adamas Howrah comfortably chased down the target inside 14 overs to register their first victory of the season.

Pacer Akash Deep who was present at the Eden as a spectator acknowledged CAB’s efforts to organise a T20 league for the players of Bengal. “I am thankful to CAB for organising such a tournament where talents in Bengal will get the opportunity to showcase their skills,” he said. “Bengal T20 League has made the game in Bengal more competitive. The league is like an oxygen to the players. Playing at a stadium like Eden Gardens will surely boost the players and they will also get exposure. IPL team talent scouts are coming, so it’s an advantage for players.”
