The Delhi Capitals beat the Punjab Kings by three wickets in Match 55 of the 2026 Indian Premier League at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala.

Being put into bat on a wicket which had enough to offer for the quick bowlers, the Punjab Kings got off to a flyer courtesy of Priyansh Arya, as he took on the Capitals seamers early despite Prabhsimran Singh having a tough time at the other end. Arya raced to his half-century off just 24 balls, with the Kings scoring 72 off the powerplay.

Prabhsimran Singh fell for 18, which brought skipper Shreyas Iyer out to the middle at number 3. Arya then fell to debutant Madhav Tiwari, which brought out Cooper Connolly to the middle. Connolly and Iyer stitched a partnership of 83 off 52 before Connolly fell for 38 as Tiwari’s second scalp of the day. Starc then removed Marcus Stoinis and Shashank Singh off successive deliveries, but Suryansh Shedge’s late unbeaten cameo of 21 off 8 balls took the Punjab Kings to 210 for 5 in their 20 overs. Shreyas remained unbeaten on 59 off 36 balls.

In response, the Capitals were handed early blows as Arshdeep Singh and Yash Thakur removed the openers Abhishek Porel and KL Rahul. Arshdeep removed Sahil Parakh, leaving the Capitals reeling at 33/3. This brought in captain Axar Patel, who got to rebuilding the Capitals’ innings with Tristan Stubbs. The pair put on a stand of 41 off 23, with Axar as the aggressor. Stubbs was run out after a mix-up for 12, which brought out David Miller, making his return to the team.

Axar and Miller put on a 64-run stand, which inched the Capitals closer to the total. Axar reached his first half-century of the season, but shortly fell for 56 off 30. Miller took on the Kings’ bowlers but fell for 51. Ashutosh Sharma fell after a quickfire 24 off 10, but Madhav Tiwari, unbeaten on 18 and Auqib Nabi, unbeaten on 10, took the Capitals home with an over to spare.

The Capitals leave their qualification hopes open with this victory. With two games left, they sit on ten points and will need to win their final two games of the season. On the other hand, Punjab Kings suffered their fourth consecutive loss, and with three games remaining, they will need to regroup and return to winning ways.
