Bianca Belair’s pregnancy reveal became a huge WrestleMania 42 moment, but it almost didn’t happen there at all.
While speaking on her vlog, Belair revealed she was originally ready to announce her pregnancy on her birthday instead. She said she had texted Triple H about the idea of revealing it at WrestleMania, but when she didn’t hear back right away, she started moving forward with another plan.
“I was dead set on announcing it on my birthday. I texted him, he didn’t text back, so I said, ‘Okay, I’ll announce it on my birthday.’ He just texted back. He said yes. Now, I can’t go back on it.”
Montez Ford explained that they had already planned a Miami trip from April 8 to April 12 and were preparing to reveal the news on Bianca’s birthday. Once WWE approved the WrestleMania reveal, that changed everything because they had to keep the pregnancy quiet longer.
“We planned to go to Miami from April 8 to April 12 and we were going to announce it on her birthday. Once we got to WrestleMania, everybody already knows, so it’s cool. Now that this is happening, it completely changes everything. Now, we have to keep hiding her for another four weeks.”
Bianca then explained that Triple H was excited when she told him she was pregnant and suggested WrestleMania as the place to make the announcement. At first, she wasn’t sure because she had been enjoying keeping the news private.
“Originally, I texted Hunter, and I told him I was pregnant. He was super excited and was like, ‘How are you gonna announce it? What about WrestleMania?’ I was like, ‘Well, like me talk to [Montez] about it. That would be cool. At least I could still be part of WrestleMania. Let me think about it.’ I was enjoying this bubble and was in a space where I didn’t want to announce it.”
Belair admitted she originally wanted to keep things quiet and simply surprise people later with the baby instead of making a public announcement.
“I honestly just wanted to tell my family and friends and hard launch a baby. ‘This is mine. I don’t want to announce it.’ I said, ‘Let me think about it.’”
Eventually, she and Ford warmed up to the idea of doing it at WrestleMania, with Belair even pitching the idea of opening the show with her baby bump. But because WWE was busy during Mania season, she thought the lack of a response might mean the idea was off.
“Finally, we were talking and I said, ‘Let’s do WrestleMania. What about me coming out frist thing, with my bump, and opening WrestleMania.’ It’s Mania season, so I didn’t get a text back for a while. They are busy, of course. I thought, ‘Maybe it’s a no. F*** it, I’ll just announce it on my birthday.’”
Just when Belair and Ford had settled on the birthday reveal, Triple H finally responded and approved the WrestleMania moment.
“We got dead set on that. ‘Let’s announce it on my birthday, and I go to Mania, I can go around and party in Vegas.’ Then, Hunter texted me back, ‘Sorry for the delay. Yes and yes.’”
Belair previously revealed that her decision to start a family came after complications from her finger injury changed her timeline. What was originally expected to be an 8-to-12-week recovery turned into a longer issue, and she eventually decided it was time to do something for herself after years of sacrifice.
In the end, the announcement made it to WrestleMania, but Bianca’s latest comments show how close it came to being a much more private birthday reveal instead.
