Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods leaving WWE already had the business talking; now Big E has reacted to their exits, and it hits hard.
After Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods left WWE, Big E took to his Instagram story with a quiet but powerful tribute. He shared artwork showing Kingston and Woods walking away — Woods leaving behind his King of the Ring crown, and Kingston leaving his New Day gear in an alley. He paired it with the song “New Day” by Asoredee. No caption. No explanation. Just the image.
And given everything those three built together, that was enough. The New Day wasn’t just another faction; it was one of WWE’s most successful groups ever. Years of championships, defining matches, and a bond that went beyond storylines. Now, with Kingston and Woods gone, Big E is the only member still under the WWE banner — and that post made it clear how much that reality carries.
Behind that emotional moment, there’s now clarity on why this even happened. According to Bryan Alvarez, Kingston and Woods didn’t leave because their contracts ran out. WWE asked them to restructure their deals under the TKO system — and they chose to walk away instead.
“We can also confirm that in the case of New Day, it was their decision to leave based on what TKO was offering for a new deal. To be specific, New Day’s deals were not up. They were asked to restructure to TKO deals, they didn’t like the deals, so they were then granted their release.”
At the same time, the industry is already looking ahead. There’s excitement inside All Elite Wrestling about the possibility of The New Day coming in, with internal talk already focusing on how they’d fit — and one matchup in particular keeps getting brought up.
“There is a lot of excitement in AEW circles about the potential of The New Day coming into the company, PWInsider.com can confirm. We’ve heard from a number of people connected to the company who pointed out that The Young Bucks and New Day have teased the idea of wrestling each other going many years back, but now everyone may finally be able to actually deliver that bout. That doesn’t mean the team is coming in, but there are some who are excited about the idea of that match finally happening.”
So while the business side explains the exit, Big E’s post is the part that sticks. No speculation, no contracts — just a reminder of what The New Day was, and what it meant.

Do you think The New Day will ever reunite again, or is this really the end of that era? Let us know your thoughts.
