Booker T has been off NXT commentary for a couple of weeks, but he says fans can stop worrying.
While speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker explained that his absence had nothing to do with his health or any drama. Wade Barrett had been filling in next to Vic Joseph, but Booker said he simply had family matters to handle, and when family needs him, everything else stops.
“I’m the youngest of eight, and when something happens in your family, family comes first. Everything stops.”
The WWE Hall of Famer said being the youngest in his family comes with responsibility, and he felt he needed to step away from work so he could properly deal with what was happening at home.
“For me, I’ve always said that, being the youngest in my family, it’s my responsibility to step up and be there at all times. I had been dealing with family stuff that I had to take a step back and deal with.”
Now, though, Booker is ready to get back behind the desk. He made it clear he does not like trying to juggle personal issues and work at the same time, so he took care of what he needed to take care of first.
“Now I’m getting back to work because I cannot deal with things while I’m working at the same time.”
And for anyone thinking there was more to the story, Booker shut that down too. He said he feels good, his health is fine, and he is heading back to NXT commentary with Vic Joseph.
“But no, that’s all it’s been. I feel good. There’s nothing wrong with me. My health is great. I’m getting back to work tomorrow with my man Vic Joseph and doing things the way they’re supposed to be done.”
So there it is. Booker T was not written off, sick, or dealing with anything WWE-related. He simply had family matters to take care of, and now he is ready to get back where fans are used to hearing him every week.
