Brady Tkachuk Remains Committed to the Ottawa Senators
Reporter 1: “Brady, there’s been a lot of discourse regarding your future since the series ended. Is that you plan to discuss with Steve Staios this summer?”
Brady Tkachuk: “Well, I mean, of course, I wasn’t here for everybody’s meetings the other day, and so I haven’t had the chance to talk to Steve, but I mean, I feel like I’ve answered this hundreds of times, that none of that I have never shown, I’ve never said. None of those things ever came out of my mouth. And quite honestly, it’s just getting frustrating. It’s becoming a distraction because I have been fully committed to this team, to the city. And it’s just becoming a distraction, frustrating to deal with.”
The Rumors and Noise Will Only Get Louder Around Brady Tkachuk
Reporter 2: “Is that a question? Is that a conversation that you need to have? Obviously, you have two years left on your deal. Your team’s in a window of competitiveness now. If you sign an extension, obviously that extends that window, but you obviously recognize that if you ultimately decide to leave, if that ever happens, it would have an impact on the team’s window for competitiveness.”
Brady Tkachuk: “I mean that’s just stuff that I’ve, like for me it’s, I just want to talk to Steve. And I know we’re going to talk, and he just left for U18S, and just to talk about our normal conversations, usually at the end of the year. About our team and what he thinks and what he thinks of my own game. And I talked to Green this morning, and I know we’re going to talk in a couple weeks when we all decompress a little bit more. And for me, it’s just having those conversations about our team where we can improve. Where I can improve, and all that other stuff. It’s just a distraction to what we’re trying to do.”
Tkachuk Likes the Direction of the Senators
Reporter 3: “Generally speaking, what do you think of the direction that this team is taking, and how much do you want to be a part of that?”
Brady Tkachuk: “Well, I think I mean everything is very dampened by how the playoffs went. But I think in the grand scheme of things, there’s a lot that we dealt with as a group and how we handled the adversity, I thought, and I was really proud of that.
NHL Rumors: Toronto Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators, and Brady Tkachuk
Where you can easily make an excuse, throw in the towel, and say that injuries happened, or this happened, the fact that we made up all that ground and got into this position was good. It was a goal to get in the playoffs. But at the end of the day, we didn’t get what we truly wanted, and that’s a Stanley Cup. And obviously, that does dampen it. That is frustrating, and it’s frustrating for me cuz it’s all I want to do is win a Stanley Cup.”
Tkachuk Focused on Improving as Extension Talk Can’t Happen Yet
Reporter 4: “You’re a year away from even considering an extension. What do you need to see from the team in order to have those conversations about why re-signing?”
NHL Rumors: Brady Tkachuk is Still Committed to the Ottawa Senators
Brady Tkachuk: “I just think for me, I mean, the extension talk is just. I mean, like you said, it’s a year away, so that’s something that you physically can’t even do anytime soon. So for me, it’s just talk to Steve when we have that conversation, as I said, where he views our team, what he thinks we need to improve on, and what I need to improve on myself, you know, not just as a player, as a captain, and stuff like that. Obviously, I’m excited to hear Steve’s thoughts and where he thinks we can improve.”
Tkachuk Doesn’t Get Why Trade Rumors Are a Consistent Thing
Reporter 5: “Brady, and you already mentioned this, like you’ve mentioned hundreds of times, how much you like this Ottawa market and everything. I’m just curious, like, why do you think there’s so much noise about that, you know? Do you ever think about that?”
Brady Tkachuk: “I mean, honestly, I don’t really get why it’s a consistent thing. And it’s happened so many times personally, and it’s frustrating. As I said, it’s just that it’s frustrating to have to answer for something that has never been spoken out of my mouth. Hasn’t been spoken from the team’s mouth. But I just feel like I have to consistently answer for it, and it’s just frustrating.”
