It’s been a rocky road for The Bella Twins since their returns. The WWE Hall of Famers who spearheaded the #GiveDivasAChance movement have hit a lot of bumps along the way during this return. While Nikki Bella is recovering from an ankle injury, Brie Bella is navigating her return by teaming with the returning Paige. Both Paige and Brie Bella were once retired from WWE and are now the current Women’s Tag Team Champions. Even with the gold, they’re still struggling to find respect. Now, Brie Bella expresses disappointment over her latest European tour.
Brie Bella Expresses Disappointment After SmackDown Snub
The Bella Twins are no strangers to disappointment with WWE. As seen on Total Divas, the twins once had their WrestleMania 29 match canceled seconds before they were set to go out!
The latest European tour was no different for Brie Bella. Now teaming with Paige, the Women’s Tag Team Champion voiced her disappointment over the latest SmackDown from Barcelona, Spain.
Talking with Nikki Bella on the Nikki & Brie Show, Brie shared:
“But, you know, we obviously start off my trip in Barcelona for Friday Night SmackDown. I will tell you all, Paige and I were very sad not to wrestle in front of you in Spain, or actually be out there.”
As you can see, Brie expresses disappointment in two things. For one, she was upset that she wasn’t scheduled to wrestle in Spain. Furthermore, the trailblazing twin was upset that she couldn’t even come out and address the live crowd the following week.
Brie Bella Wanted to Address the Crowd in Italy
Not only was Brie Bella not used in Spain, but she also faced the same backstage treatment one week later. Once again, Paige and Brie Bella were on hand for SmackDown from Bologna, Italy. Once again, the Champs didn’t come out to ringside.
Brie Bella expresses disappointment in how SmackDown in Italy went down:
“And then the Friday, the SmackDown after (Spain), Paige and I thought we had a match and then we didn’t.
And, we were so sad. We’re like, ‘Can we please walk out to the crowd and cut a promo,’ and do all that?
Which, actually we originally were supposed to be out in the crowd and do this thing out in the arena. And last minute, it got switched.We were so bummed.
I was like, ‘How is it that I’m in Europe and I did not once walk out to any of those fabulous high-energy crowds?’”
Brie Bella made the best of the situation, as did many other WWE Superstars. The WWE Hall of Famer took in the sights of European countries. Yet, she still missed out on performing in front of these crowds, which rarely get to experience WWE action. So she was hoping to get a bit of that excitement for herself.
Why Is Brie Bella Disappointed with WWE?
While Brie Bella was upset about the SmackDown snub, she is sort of used to it. After all, she pitched her return to WWE many times before it came to fruition. In fact, the wife of Bryan Danielson even gave up on the dream of returning to win the Tag Team Titles.
Thankfully for her, WWE did make the call. Brie Bella returned at the Royal Rumble, immediately paying homage to Daniel Bryan, who continues to help her expand her ring repertoire. Brie Bella has stated this is his last full-time WWE contract, so she wants to make the best of it.
No wonder Brie Bella was disappointed when she couldn’t perform in Europe. However, the Hall of Famer is still trying to see the bright side of things.
Future Plans for Brie Bella and Paige
Originally, The Bella Twins were supposed to win the Tag Team Titles at WrestleMania. Unfortunately, Nikki Bella sustained a serious ankle injury. In the end, Paige returned to team with Brie Bella at WrestleMania 42 Saturday. Now, they’re on a historic reign, defending the Titles twice since WrestleMania.
Originally, WWE was hoping to spark a Bella Twins vs. Paige and AJ Lee feud, perhaps heading into SummerSlam. However, AJ Lee is taking an extended break from WWE… to the point where people think the former Divas Champion has quit the company.
With AJ Lee out of the picture, WWE is pivoting. However, a Bella Twins reunion is expected upon Nikki Bella’s return.
It looks like newcomers Fatal Influence might be the ones to dethrone the Divas stars. Seeds of this rivalry were planted on SmackDown weeks ago and continued forth while WWE was in Europe.
Brie Bella spoke about her consolation prize for not addressing the live crowd in Europe:
“You know, we had a backstage, which was still really good. Fatal Influence, those are some naughty girls. But, you know, we’re going to have our, you know, we get them now.
So, we got a little taste of their medicine. They’re going to get right back. But I will say Paige and I were so sad not to be out in the crowds.”
WWE is heading back to the United States. They will be doing more House Shows in America upon returning. It’s unknown if Brie Bella or Paige is expected to make that loop.
