Brighton Speedway: Third time’s the charm getting the 2026 season underway

BRIGHTON, ON – After two rained out attempts, Brighton Speedway finally roared to life with a full night of racing. Highlighted by four special features: the NLMA Lid Lifter, the return of the Gord’s Water Vantastics, and the Duel on the Dirt Mini Stock and Thunder Stock Home Track events.

Stinger Feature

The Quinte Septic Stinger division kicked off opening night with #43 Kevin Mutch on the pole. To his outside starting in second, #20 Cameron Pedersen, who held his ground through the first lap and snagged the top spot from Mutch #43 in turn three. Thomas McGale #629 not far behind the top two but losing that third position to last year’s division champion Chris Lammle #95C after he climbed his way from the seventh starting position. After a caution on lap four caused a pileup in turns three and four the pack went green once again with #20 Cameron Pedersen pulling out swiftly from the pack. The race finished cleanly with #20 Cameron Pedersen staying in the top spot followed by #95C Chris Lammle in second, Matt Schonauer #47 in third, Jorden Pickell #93 in fourth, and #18 Brian Cross in fifth.

Thunder Stock Feature

The Thunder Stock Duel on the Dirt Home Track event #1 saw Doug Anderson #72 on the pole with last year’s division champion Tyler French in the #0 car to his outside. Starting in the third position #82 Brad Brooking and in fourth the runner up from last years Thunder Stock division Brock Gregory #26. Lap one began with Tyler French #0 pulling out to take the lead from poll sitter Doug Anderson #72. Lap two saw #26 Brock Gregory and #03 Justin Ramsay also putting pressure on Anderson from behind and the outside. Gregory and Ramsay were able to capture the second and third spots leaving Doug Anderson in the fourth position by lap three. A caution brought the pack back together and fans saw #26 Brock Gregory had taken the lead over #0 Tyler French. They questioned whether Gregory could hold that top spot with French on his outside for the restart. The rest of the race saw French #0 and Ramsay #03 fighting for the second spot alternating places through multiple cautions. In the end, Brock Gregory #26 held on to his early lead taking the checkers followed by #0 Tyler French in second, #32 Doug O’Blenis in third, #16 Kaitlyn O’Blenis in fourth, and #10 Carter Rhodes in fifth.
