WNBA star Brittney Griner changed teams once again after leaving the Phoenix Mercury for the Atlanta Dream in 2025. This 2026, she opted to join the Connecticut Sun.
Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed, but the Sun revealed that Griner agreed to a one-year deal.
Griner averaged career lows across the board with the Dream last season, recording 9.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game. However, that is also in large part due to her decreased role, as she averaged just 20.8 minutes per contest and started only 25 games.
After joining the Sun, the 35-year-old Griner said that she’s “excited for a new start.” In her post, she included a video montage of her time in Atlanta and thanked the Dream for welcoming her.

“Thank you @atlantadream for the memories,” Griner added in the comments section of her post. “This city will always hold a special place in my heart.”
While Griner prepares for a new chapter in her WNBA career with the Sun, she also highlighted another personal mission as she adjusts to a new city.
“Gotta find the best BBQ/Soul Food spots in CT,” Griner added.
It doesn’t look like Griner will have a hard time fulfilling that mission, though. Her comment already received plenty of responses from fans sharing their own recommendations to the new Connecticut star.
For what it’s worth, should Griner stay with the franchise, looking for her favorite food spots should be easier in the future. After all, the team is set to relocate to Griner’s home city, Houston, in 2027.
