Buxton confirm appointment of new manager with coach leaving Sheffield Wednesday

Buxton confirm the appointment of Jordan Broadbent as their new manager with the Sheffield Wednesday under 18s coach making the switch.

Buxton said in a statement they are delighted to announce the appointment of Jordan Broadbent as the Clubโ€™s new Menโ€™s First-Team Manager ahead of the forthcoming season.

Broadbent will join the Bucks on a two-year contract, bringing with him a wealth of coaching experience gained at one of the countryโ€™s most respected football institutions, Sheffield Wednesday FC.

Having worked across both Sheffield Wednesdayโ€™s Academy and First Team environments, Broadbent has developed a strong reputation for player development, tactical understanding, and a progressive approach to coaching. His experience working with elite young talent, alongside senior professional players and staff, has equipped him with the skills and knowledge required to lead Buxton FC into an exciting new chapter.

The appointment marks a significant step forward for the Club as it continues to build for the future both on and off the pitch.

Speaking following his appointment, Broadbent said:

โ€œIโ€™m excited to be joining Buxton Football Club. From the first conversations I had with the owners, it was clear that the club has a strong identity, ambitious plans, and a real desire to keep moving forward.

The opportunity to work at a club with such a passionate fanbase and strong foundations was one I couldnโ€™t turn down. I believe in creating an environment where players can develop and improve , while also building a team that is competitive, hard-working, and committed to winning football matches.

Success doesnโ€™t happen overnight, but weโ€™ll work every day to build something that supporters can connect with and be proud of. I canโ€™t wait to meet the players, staff and fans, and get started on what I believe can be an exciting journey for everyone involved with the club.โ€

Buxton FC Chairman David Hopkins added:

โ€œWe are delighted to welcome Jordan to the Club. Throughout the recruitment process, he demonstrated a clear vision for the future, a strong understanding of the game, and a genuine enthusiasm for what we are continuing to build at Buxton FC. His experience at Sheffield Wednesday FC, working within both the Academy and First Team, makes him an outstanding appointment and we are excited to see him lead the team over the coming years.โ€

Everyone at Buxton Football Club would like to extend a warm welcome to Jordan and wishes him every success during his time at the Club.

Further announcements regarding the Clubโ€™s preparations for the forthcoming season will be made in due course.

Sheffield Wednesday said in a statement:

Owls Under-18s head coach Jordan Broadbent has left the club to join National League North side Buxton as first team manager.

Sheffield Wednesday would like to thank Jordan for his hard work and dedication over the past four years and he leaves the club with our very best wishes.

โ€œItโ€™s a really good opportunity for me to go in and have a really good go at bringing success to Buxton,โ€ Jordan told swfc.co.uk.

โ€œItโ€™s a good level and it has long been my dream to go and manage.

โ€œI know the level, I have a really good rapport with young players in the North of England and believe we can build an ambitious squad.

โ€œAt the same time, Iโ€™m leaving with a heavy heart because Sheffield Wednesday are my club, since I was a little boy, they have played a massive part in my life.

โ€œHopefully one day I can be back in some capacity but right now, I need to give this a go.

โ€œWhen my dream of being a footballer wasnโ€™t going to happen, the next thing was to be a manager and now I am starting to fulfil that dream.

โ€œIโ€™m massively excited and will do all I can to build on the good work already done by John McGrath, who is also a friend of mine.

โ€œTo the group of players Iโ€™ve worked with in our academy of the past two/three years, theyโ€™ve all been a massive part of my journey.

โ€œI have built some really good connections, I want to wish them every success and will always be there for them.โ€

Academy manager Jonathan Pepper added: โ€œJordan has played a significant role in the recent success of the academy.

โ€œHis contribution to the development of players transitioning into the first team has been evident.

โ€œA move into a first team environment has long been an ambition of Jordanโ€™s, and this opportunity represents a natural and well-deserved step in his career.

โ€œWhile we are disappointed to lose a coach and person of his quality, it is important that we recognise and celebrate his achievements and the impact he has made during his time at the club.

โ€œI would like to thank Jordan for his commitment and contribution and wish him every success in his new role at Buxton.โ€
