Wilson was a five-star recruit in the class of 2025 who signed with North Carolina out of Georgia. In his one season with the Tar Heels, Wilson had 19.8 points, 9.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. He also had 1.5 steals and 1.4 blocks per game. After playing in 24 games, he broke his left hand and then his right thumb while on his way back from the injury. He missed the NCAA Tournament as UNC lost in the first round.
Following the season, Wilson declared for the 2026 NBA Draft. He is currently projected to be a top five pick.
Caleb Wilson Strengths
Wilson is very athletic, especially for his size. He stands at 6-foot-9.25 and 211 pounds with a wingspan of over 7-feet. Wilson moves very well for his size, showing good quickness and speed. He also had a 39-inch vertical at the combine, which is great for a player of his size. Wilson uses his athleticism in many different ways, including his dunks, an area that he excelled in at college.
His defense should have fans excited. Wilson has the length and athleticism to really bother opponents. He was specifically useful at the top of a press for UNC, but even in half-court defense, those attributes help him stay in front and make things difficult. Wilson can switch and guard multiple positions. He also makes plenty of impact plays, as he had 1.5 steals and 1.4 blocks per game.
He has shown the ability to score inside with his athleticism, but he can also do a lot of damage from the mid-range. Wilson uses his height and length to shoot over smaller defenders and does so at a successful clip. He uses the threat of getting to the basket to his advantage and is able to hit mid-range jumpers from multiple spots. His offense can extend out to the 15-foot range at the moment.
Caleb Wilson Weaknesses
In order to really improve as an offensive player, Wilson needs to improve his 3-point shooting. He shot around 25 percent from deep during his one collegiate season. He can improve both off the dribble and off the catch to really help his offensive game. A tweak to his shooting stroke could be in store.
Wilson will need to fill out his frame a bit for the next level by adding more strength. This could help him with his durability, but also can help him guard bigger players. Right now, he doesn’t have the strength to hold up down low defensively, but adding strength can also help his offensive game as he’ll be able to finish at the basket more.
His ball-handling could improve to help his offensive game as well. Wilson can struggle to create his own shot off the dribble because he doesn’t have the wiggle to free himself. Improving his handles can help his get his own shot and limit turnovers, as well as diversify his game.
Projected Draft Range: Top 5 Pick
