Cathy Kelley is opening up about something personal, revealing that she was recently diagnosed with autism.
The WWE backstage interviewer spoke about it during her appearance on Chris Van Vliet’s Insight podcast, where the conversation turned to social events, life outside WWE, and whether she has to “turn it on” when cameras are rolling. Kelley first admitted that she does not attend many events these days because she is naturally introverted: “Yeah, occasionally. I don’t go to very many anymore. I’m pretty introverted so.”
When Van Vliet asked if she feels like she has to switch into a different mode on camera, Kelley explained that her on-screen personality is simply another part of who she is. She then revealed her recent diagnosis.
“I think it’s just a different side to me. I was recently diagnosed with autism, and I recognize that that changes a lot of the social dynamics that I have.”
Cathy Kelley added that when she describes herself as introverted, it goes beyond the usual meaning of the word: “So when I say introverted, I feel like it’s a little bit more than a typical person would be, yeah.”
Kelley has been a steady presence on WWE programming since returning to the company in October 2022. She currently works as a backstage correspondent on SmackDown and remains one of WWE’s most familiar on-screen interviewers.
Her comments give more context to how she navigates social settings while continuing to thrive in a high-pressure television role. Kelley’s openness also gives viewers a better understanding of the person behind the WWE microphone.
