CM Punk’s WWE Absence Not Due to Lack of Creative Plans

CM Punk’s WWE Absence Not Due to Lack of Creative Plans

CM Punk’s absence from WWE TV has sparked plenty of theories, but one rumor is now being shut down directly.

Over the last several weeks, speculation has grown that Punk was being kept off television because WWE simply didn’t have creative plans for him. That theory gained traction after Punk was pulled from several advertised RAW dates and WWE’s European tour, leading many fans to wonder what was going on behind the scenes.

According to WrestleVotes, however, fans are looking in the wrong direction. During a Q&A session, WrestleVotes was asked whether it was true that WWE currently has no plans for Punk and that’s why he has been off television. He made it clear that’s not the case at all: “No, not true. Don’t know where that came from.”

Instead of creative issues, WrestleVotes said Punk is simply getting some well-earned time away after an intense run at the top of WWE. WrestleVotes also pointed to the fact that Punk just reached one of the biggest moments of his comeback run.

“It’s a well-deserved rest for a guy who’s been going, outside of injury, for three straight years. Just main evented WrestleMania—get a little time off. He’ll be back in no time, right back at the top of the card. It is not true they have no plans for CM Punk.”

The update comes after several conflicting reports emerged regarding Punk’s status. It was reported that Punk was waiting on creative after WWE shifted plans following major roster moves involving Gunther and Jacob Fatu. Dave Meltzer also reported that WWE sources described Punk’s absence as nothing more than a schedule change.

Punk has not appeared on WWE television since the April 20 episode of RAW, and his absence from recent premium live events and international shows only fueled more questions. However, if this latest update is accurate, WWE’s plans for Punk haven’t disappeared at all. The company is simply giving one of its biggest stars some time off before bringing him back into the spotlight.

Considering the Second City Saint remains one of WWE’s biggest attractions and a proven main-event star after WrestleMania 42, it shouldn’t surprise anyone if he reappears as SummerSlam season begins.

Do you think CM Punk should return before SummerSlam, or is WWE making the right call by giving him time away from television? Leave your thoughts and feedback below.
