Confirmed team news for PL clash

Newcastle United will hope to avoid a fifth consecutive defeat in the Premier League and put any lingering talk of relegation to bed when they face a Brighton and Hove Albion side eyeing European football.

The Magpies are eight points above danger despite their miserable run of form, but an end to their losing streak would make everyone on Tyneside breathe a little easier.

Brighton, though, are unbeaten in their last six games against Newcastle and start the day in sixth, eight points behind Liverpool and Aston Villa in fourth and fifth.

Newcastle team news

Newcastle make only one change from the side that produced an improved display in a losing cause at Arsenal.

That sees Joelinton return from suspension and replace Jacob Ramsey in the midfield. Dan Burn is once again preferred to Lewis Hall at left-back.

Anthony Gordon is only fit enough for a place on the bench as he returns from a hip issue, Nick Woltemade, Yoane Wissa and Harvey Barnes are all among the substitutes, with Eddie Howe sticking with a front three of Jacob Murphy, Will Osula and Joe Willock.

Newcastle United: Pope; Miley, Thiaw, Botman, Burn; Guimaraes, Tonali, Joelinton; Murphy, Osula, Willock.

Newcastle United substitutes: Ramsdale, Trippier, Hall, Wissa, Gordon, Barnes, Elanga, Woltemade, Ramsey.
