Day 5 Review:
Faith Continues to Shine in the 1,500m!
September 17, 2025
Tokyo, Japan
The top moments from Day 5:
- Faith Cherotich/Kenya wins her first title as a senior athlete in the steeplechase in 8:51.59, against a seasoned field.
- Isaac Nader /Portugal caught Jake Wightman/UK at the finish, just 0.02 difference after Josh Kerr was injured about 800 meters into the race (he had an issue in the semi-final, but it got rough in the final). This was Jake’s second medal, after winning in Eugene 2022, and he had been injured for much of the last 2 years.
Isaac Nader takes gold for Portugal, 3:34.10, Jake Wightman, GBR, takes silver in 3:34.12 and Reynald Cheruiyot, KEN takes bronze in 3:34.25! photo by Brian Eder for RunBlogRun - Katie Moon, USA, and Sandi Morris, USA, go gold and silver in the pole vault. Katie won at 4.90m, defending her last two titles (consecutive). Sandi Morris, healthy once again, pushed the bar up to 4.95m to try and win, and finished in the silver position!
