Cook supports Root in crossing Tendulkar to reach massive milestone in Test cricket

Former England captain Alastair Cook feels that Joe Root has the potential to cross the legendary ‘Master Blaster’ Sachin Tendulkar, and become the leading run-scorer in Test cricket.

Joe Root currently has 12716 runs in the red ball format, and is 3205 runs behind the Indian legend who has 15921 runs on his name.

Root currently sits at the fifth place at the top run-scorers below Rahul Dravid (13288), Jacques Kallis (13289), and Ricky Ponting (13378) with Sachin being ahead of all of them.

I think Joe Root could set a mark, certainly on an English side, that’ll be very hard to beat. But, you just never know,” Cook said according to ICC.

I hope he can get very close, if not be the first person who scores 16,000 Test runs. It’d be a great achievement.” he surther said.
