Curator gives a massive update regarding the Kanpur pitch ahead of the second test between India and Bangladesh

The Green Park curator revealed on Wednesday that the wicket prepared for the second Test match between India and Bangladesh is expected to be a perfect five day pitch that will support fast bowlers during the first two hours of play and supporting spin bowlers on the remaining three days. The Test is set to begin on Friday. “There will be that Chennai match feeling. It will have something for everyone. It will offer bounce in the first two sessions and it will be pretty good for batting for the first two days. Then, the spinners will come into play on the last three days,” curator Shiv Kumar told PTI.

In the opening Test match held in Chennai, India inflicted a massive 280-run defeat on Bangladesh.

The black soil for the Green Park pitch, like always, has been obtained from Kali Mitti village, which is situated near Unnao, 23 kilometers away from Kanpur.

Pitches made of black soil are favorable for spinners, while red soil is more advantageous to fast bowlers. The pitch is also expected to go slow in pace and also play low.

“The soil used for the pitch is excavated from the village Kali Mitti, which is situated around a pond about 23 kilometers away from Kanpur. This practice, i.e., bringing black soil from the village, is an age-old tradition that we have been doing,” added the UPCA official.

The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association has stayed focused on the environment thus announcing that plastic usage would be greatly limited during the conduct of the second Test match.

UPCA has also prohibited the use of plastic plates while serving the snacks inside the stadium and they will allow only paper plates.

“This is a match at Green Park and we are making all efforts to convert it into a green match. Therefore, we have decided to minimize plastic as far as possible,” said Sanjay Kapur, the stadium director.
