ROLAND GARROS – As Gabriela Dabrowski succinctly put it after she and partner Luisa Stefani were dismissed 6-0, 6-1 in Friday’s Roland Garros women’s doubles semifinals, they were “outplayed”.
When No. 1 seeds Taylor Townsend and Katerina Siniakova, who will vie for their first title in Paris as a team Sunday against No. 2 seeds Anna Danilina and Aleksandra Krunic, are playing this well even prayers probably wouldn’t help.
It was a monster performance.
Here’s our piece for Canadian Press.
Here’s what it looked like; Siniakova and Townsend were in charge from start to finish.
Still, a great Roland Garros for Dabrowski, who made the mixed doubles final Thursday with American Evan King and also lost to the No. 1 seeds.
As much of the clay-court season as she missed, rallying the week before Roland Garros to win Strasbourg and get some reps, it was a top-notch tournament for her.
She’ll move back to No. 3 in the world in the individual rankings on Monday.
