Danhausen is taking full credit for the New York Knicks finally winning the NBA Championship.
The Knicks beat the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 in Game 5 of the 2026 NBA Finals, ending a 53-year title drought. The win came after Danhausen became part of the team’s playoff story by “uncursing” them, and WWE is already cashing in with a new Danhausen x New York Knicks T-shirt line. After the win, Danhausen took to Twitter with a video congratulating the Knicks and making sure everyone knew the curse was gone.
“.@nyknicks CONGRATULATIONS FROM DANHAUSEN FOREVER UNCURSED 🏀👹🦷🗽 @WWE”
In the video, Danhausen immediately claimed his new title in New York and joked that the city now owes him some serious honors.
“Yes. We did it. Danhausen’s the king of New York now. Oh, yes, I’ll get a statue of Danhausen and a mural of Danhausen and Danhausen in the side of Times Square, the site of Madison Square Garden.”
Danhausen did give the Knicks some credit, calling them the “Nixhausens” and saying they did the work, but he also made it clear that his “uncursing” was part of the team effort.
“But of course, congratulations to the Nixhausens because you did all the work. It was a little team effort. Danhausen uncursed.”
He also joked that he may have cursed a few of the Knicks’ opponents along the way and brought Stephen A. Smith into the bit.
“You had cursed a couple of your opponents, which he really didn’t have to do. He just wanted to get a little extra human money on this idea. Extort the billionaire Stephen A. Smith.”
Danhausen then said the mayor needs to give him his own parade, statue, or even a giant balloon before closing by saying New York can now celebrate Danhausen Day and Knicks Day.
“Now the mayor has to give Danhausen a parade of his own and a statue or whatever. I said, I don’t know, some big balloon animal floating in between Snoopy and Garfield. We can have Danhausen day. We can have the Knicks Day. And we can celebrate that you are the NBA 2026 champions and you are uncasted.”
WWE has already released Danhausen x Knicks shirts tied to the “uncursed” story, so they clearly saw the money in the moment. It remains to be seen whether Danhausen appears at Madison Square Garden or Fanatics Fest, but he is already making himself part of the Knicks’ championship celebration.
