Danhausen is not done making demands from Stephen A. Smith, and now the New York Knicks’ NBA Finals hopes may come with a much bigger price tag.
The Knicks are set to face the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals, and Danhausen appeared on ESPN’s First Take before Game 1 to remind Smith that keeping New York uncursed is not a free service. Danhausen already asked for courtside seats, but now he wants something even bigger.
Danhausen made it clear that Smith’s payments have worked so far, but the curse situation is still very much in play.
“Stephen A. Smith, your checks have cleared so far. However, if you want to keep this un-cursing going, perhaps Danhausen is gonna need his own TV show or more monies or perhaps those courtside seats. No big deal. You have until tip-off time to decide what happens with the curse.”
Smith did not exactly take that lightly. He fired back by accusing Danhausen of hurting his own image with the way he was handling the situation.
“Damaging his reputation by engaging in blackmail.”
Danhausen first lifted the curse on the Knicks on April 28, and things have gone very well for New York since then. The Knicks went on to sweep the Philadelphia 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers on their way to the Finals, giving Danhausen plenty of reason to believe his powers are working.
Now the question is whether Stephen A. Smith will meet Danhausen’s latest demands before tip-off, or risk watching the curse return at the worst possible time. Either way, Danhausen has turned the Knicks’ Finals run into one of the weirdest side stories in sports and wrestling.
What do you think Stephen A. Smith should do about Danhausen’s demands? Should he pay up, give him courtside seats, or get him his own TV show? Share your thoughts in the comments and let us know what you think.
