Daniel Dubois vows to “sleep” Fabio Wardley

Daniel Dubois has promised to put Fabio Wardley “to sleep” in their heavyweight world title fight this Saturday.

Dubois vies to become a two-time heavyweight world champion when he challenges Wardley for his WBO crown at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, live on DAZN.

The Londoner has had an intense demeanour throughout fight week, walking out of multiple interviews and has vowed to add to his 95% knockout ratio by taking out his rival.

“I’m going to take him out,” the 28-year-old told Sky Sports News.

“Put him to sleep, take that belt.

“I’m just going to fight how I fight and what I do is put damage and bring the pain.

“That’s all I’m going to do.

“He’s been a decent fighter, but I’m going to show there’s levels to this.

“But he’s been decent, take nothing away from him.

“You guys just watch and see. I’m going to show up.

“I’m motivated, really motivated.

“I’ve come back from being champion and I’m going for it again, so I’m really up for it.”

Dubois heads into the bout off the back of a fifth round knockout loss to Oleksandr Usyk last August.

The former IBF world champion confronted Wardley during Thursday’s final press conference after taking exception to the Ipswich man claiming he would have been a binman if he wasn’t fighting.

“Fabio I heard you called me the dustman and I’m going to collect the trash boy,” he said.

“It’s disrespect so I’m going to put it right in the ring boy.

“I heard what you said.

“I’m going to burst his bubble anyway.”

Wardley responded: “I didn’t call you the dustman.

“Someone asked me what you might have as a job [if you weren’t a boxer] and I said [you] might be a dustman.

“There was nothing negative about that.

“Don’t let other people get in your head and tell you what it comes across as.”

Wardley makes a first defence of his title after being upgraded from interim to full champion in November.

The pair will come face-to-face for the final time following Friday’s weigh in at Boulders from 6pm BST.
