Former UFC star Darren Till didn’t hold back in his most scathing criticism of Dana White since he parted ways with the UFC in 2023.
UFC CEO Dana White’s most ambitious card yet is weeks away as the promotion looks ahead to hosting a fight card on the White House lawn this summer. UFC Freedom 250 is headlined by a lightweight title matchup between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje, and features the return of Alex Pereira in an interim heavyweight title bout with Ciryl Gane.
Despite promising the ‘biggest card in UFC history’, White’s upcoming White House event has received mixed reactions from fans and pundits. Some have accused White of not having the same promotional enthusiasm as he did earlier in his career, amidst Zuffa Boxing’s inaugural year.
After questionable matchmaking decisions and dropping viewership for Fight Night events, former UFC star Darren Till thinks White is solely to blame.
Darren Till ‘doesn’t watch UFC anymore’ because of Dana White
In a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Till was brutally honest when asked about his relationship with the UFC brass and his thoughts on the promotion’s current product.
“I don’t want to slight Dana, I like Dana, but I think his ego is getting too much out of control,” Till said of White.
“I think he’s totally switched off from the UFC. I don’t even watch the UFC anymore. I couldn’t tell you half the people who fight; the events aren’t juicy anymore. Very few stars are left. I’m pissed off with the media side of things…every time Dana’s in a scrum, reporters are scared to say the real things. When they do ask questions, Dana’s all ‘Who gives a s***?’. We give a s***! I give a s***! So give us a f***** answer, baldy.
“It just annoys me, too much ego,” Till continued. “The fighters are the only ones who should be having back-and-forths…it winds me up, and I don’t even think about it because I’ll just lose my mind.”
Till parted ways with the UFC in 2023 on cordial terms with White and the matchmakers, following a three-fight losing streak at middleweight. He’s transitioned to boxing since his UFC departure, earning wins in Misfits Boxing against Luke Rockhold and Anthony Taylor.
