David Benavidez names the opponent he wants to face after Gilberto Ramirez
Benavidez (31-0, 25 KOs) is moving up from light heavyweight to challenge the unified cruiserweight champion Ramirez (48-1, 30 KOs). Last time out, Ramirez defeated Yuniel Dorticos before undergoing shoulder surgery. Benavidez enjoyed a successful 2025, with impressive victories over David Morrell and Anthony Yarde.
During his interview with Dan Rafael, Benavidez exuded confidence ahead of facing Ramirez, and when asked about his future at cruiserweight or moving back down to light heavyweight, he said:
“I’ve already made the decision myself. I’m not gonna leave nothing on the table. 175. I’m definitely going back to there. It’s up to me to make sure I’m prepared.”
“I wanna fight (Dmitry) Bivol. I’ve already put myself in position to fight that. I owe it to myself. We’re gonna do what we’re gonna do. I know what I’m doing, and I know how to move and whatever I’ve got to do. I just leave the work to myself, and I know exactly what to do,” added Benavidez.
