David Jimenez named WBA super flyweight champion in place of Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez, becoming Costa Rica’s first male champion

Per their web site, the World Boxing Association’s (WBA) Championship Committee have designated David “Medallita” Jimenez, 18-1 (12 KOs), of Costa Rica, as the brand-new WBA Super Flyweight Champion, in place of Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez’s vacating the belt.

According to the WBA, officially the first male world champion ever from Costa Rica, Jiménez was already the organization’s interim world champion and has now been elevated to full champion.
