Dolce Vita in Brittany, Magnier takes his second win in the Corsa Rosa

Filippo Fiorelli (Visma) has won the 43rd edition of Tro-Bro Leon on the unpaved roads around Lannilis. After more than 202 kilometres, the Italian raised his arms – the result of a perfectly timed late attack.

Tro-Bro Leon featured 29 unpaved sections totalling 34 kilometres of gravel tracks and cobble roads – the famous ribinou of Brittany. Filippo Fiorelli launched his decisive attack three kilometers from the finish and managed to hold off the chasing riders all the way to the line. Without a win since July 2022, Fiorelli claimed the finest win of his career in “the Hell of the West”. He finished ahead of Alexis Renard (Cofidis-winner of the piglet statuette for best home rider), while Lewis Askey (NSN Cycling) secured his first podium finish in four appearances at the race.

Fiorelli proved to have the best legs and the best timing. He moved to Visma from Bardiani during the winter, bided his time long enough to strikes at the decisive moment.

“We’d planned to try and attack in the final kilometres. I knew Axel Zingle was with me and could lead out the sprint, which allowed me to play my cards right, and it went well. Visma? Racing with this team is really important because it’s one of the best in the world; you have greater responsibility on your shoulders, but everything becomes easier.”

-Filippo Fiorelli

Stage 3 of the Giro d’ltalia was all about Soudal Quick Step! Maglia Ciclamino, Paul Magnier is the race’s strongest sprinter and has won his second stage at this year’s edition in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia – beating Jonathan Milan and Dylan Groenewegen in a high-speed sprint.
