The future of Africa’s digital economy was on full display at the CRAFT Addis Game Arena, where gaming, technology, creativity, and youth innovation came together to create one of Ethiopia’s most exciting digital culture events.
Far beyond entertainment, CRAFT Addis Game Arena demonstrated how gaming can serve as a powerful catalyst for youth development, skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, and employment. The event brought together game developers, esports athletes, streamers, content creators, investors, and technology enthusiasts under one roof, creating a vibrant ecosystem that showcased the immense potential of Ethiopia’s digital generation.
One of the standout moments was the 23rd CRAFT Game Jam, where 24 talented developers worked tirelessly for 48 hours to create 13 original games from scratch. This challenge encouraged innovation, teamwork, problem-solving, and rapid prototyping skills that are increasingly valuable in today’s technology-driven economy.

The event also hosted engaging panel discussions and workshops that tackled important issues such as gaming, mental health, digital literacy, and the opportunities emerging within the creative economy. These conversations empowered young participants to think critically about their future roles in a rapidly evolving digital society.
The esports competitions attracted more than 1,500 players across popular titles including PUBG Mobile, eFootball, and EAFC 26. For many young competitors, this was more than a tournament, it was a chance to showcase talent, build confidence, develop leadership skills, and gain exposure to professional opportunities within the gaming industry.

The Game Exhibition further highlighted the incredible creativity of local developers, featuring over 30 innovative projects from studios, independent creators, and publishers. These showcases connected young innovators with potential partners and investors, opening doors to future collaborations and business opportunities.
The impact of the event extended well beyond the venue. Through a highly successful digital campaign, CRAFT Addis Game Arena generated over 1.42 million cross-platform views, more than 163,000 engagements, and over 2,100 tournament registrations. These numbers reflect a growing appetite among Ethiopia’s youth for technology, gaming, and digital innovation.

Most importantly, the event aligned with Ethiopia’s Digital 2030 vision by promoting technical literacy, positive digital engagement, and innovation-led economic growth. It demonstrated that gaming is not just a form of entertainment, it is a gateway to careers in software development, content creation, digital marketing, event production, broadcasting, and entrepreneurship.

CRAFT Addis Game Arena has set a new benchmark for what is possible when creativity, technology, and youth empowerment intersect. It has proven that Ethiopia’s young people are ready to lead the next chapter of Africa’s digital future.
The future isn’t coming. The future is already here and it’s being built by Ethiopia’s youth.
