“It’s not often that try-scoring records are broken, much less by a hooker – but Blackheath’s Billy Harding has set two in one season.
“The first came with three games left of the regular National League 1 calendar, when the captain crossed for his 43rd score to claim the new record for the most tries in a season in the third tier of English rugby.
“Not satisfied with this figure, he added five more to his tally in the remaining two games, finishing with a staggering 48 to his name, including six hat-tricks.
“Then, as he scored a brace against Clifton last weekend, he brought in his second record, becoming the first ever player to have a ‘perfect’ season – at least one try in every fixture.”
