Eric Young Says TNA Return Was a Middle Finger to WWE After Final Run

Eric Young is not holding back anymore about his final run in WWE — and he made it crystal clear that returning to TNA Wrestling felt like proving a point after the company let him go.

While speaking on the Johnny I Pro Show, Eric Young said the end of his WWE run made him question how much he still loved wrestling because the experience was not rewarding at all.

“At the end of my WWE run, I was wondering, ‘How much do I still love this? How much longer can I do this?’ Because it was not rewarding in any way. It was awful.”

Young said returning to TNA changed everything for him because it gave him a chance to prove he could still deliver. He also admitted it felt like a direct shot at the company that let him go.

“But then going back to TNA and being able to show people that I’m good at it—I mean, it’s kind of a middle finger to the place that fired me. It’s the truth. And I think any of the guys that got fired would say the same thing.”

Young made it clear he still respects plenty of people in WWE, but said one key person didn’t understand him creatively. He added that this was the problem because that person was the only one who mattered.

“And look, there are tons of great people there. It’s the flagship. But in the end, there was one person that didn’t get it. And for me, the problem was—that’s the only person that mattered.”

Young then said he cannot name the person due to an NDA, but claimed people already know who he meant.

“You know, I’m not allowed to say his name because I signed an NDA, but everyone’s well aware who I’m talking about.”

Young returned to WWE in 2022 but never appeared on television before eventually going back to TNA. Based on his latest comments, that TNA return was more than just another career move. It was his way of proving WWE missed the mark with him.
