ESPN’s Matt Miller has revealed he underwent a life-saving amputation on his left arm after he was involved in a horror car accident in Missouri last week.

Miller, who works as an NFL Draft analyst for the network, was airlifted to Mercy Hospital with ‘significant injuries’ following the crash, which included multiple fractures and broken ribs.

‘I’m deeply grateful for the exceptional care I have received, from the first responders to the doctors, nurses and medical staff. I’m incredibly fortunate to be writing this,’ the 42-year-old said in a heartbreaking post on X.

‘As a result of the accident, I sustained significant injuries, including multiple fractures and broken ribs. I also underwent a life-saving amputation of my left arm.

‘While I have a long road ahead, I’m focused on my recovery and taking things one day at a time.’

After thanking people for their ‘overwhelming support’ in the wake of his accident, Miller added: ‘I look forward to continuing my recovery and getting back to ESPN to talk football, including what should be an exciting 2027 NFL Draft class.’

Local news outlet KOAM was first to report on the crash last week, revealing that Miller was driving a 2023 Bronco on Missouri Route 96 when he crossed the center line and struck a semi tractor trailer at around 3:50pm.

The other driver, a 28-year-old man from Springfield, was not injured in the collision.

Miller has worked for ESPN since 2021 after previously serving as Bleacher Report’s lead NFL Draft writer for over a decade.

The reporter, who made his on-air debut for the network in 2023, has also previously appeared on their NFL Live, SportsCenter and Get Up! among other shows.
