Estevao has not spoken much since his brutal, season ending injury, but we’re finally hearing him out in public more often.

It’s been a painful couple of months for Estevao Willian as he digests the news that he’s missing the World Cup thanks to a bad hamstring injury he’s still rehabbing from.
Still, he’s come through the worst of it now, and can start thinking about next season. His recent quotes from a chat with ESPN Sports Centre Brazil show his ambition hasn’t been dimmed at all.
Estevao on wanting to be the “best player in the world”
“My ambition is to be the best player in the world, win the Champions League and win the World Cup,” the Brazilian said.
“I’m looking for that. Day after day. Step by step. Having resilience every day, eating well, training well, sleeping well…”
Asked how much weight he had gained after a season working hard in the gym to bulk up for the Premier League, the winger revealed it was “about five kilos.”
Let’s hope that weight gain and a brutal injury don’t contribute to him losing any of his explosiveness. That’s our only long term fear from all this.
In other news…
The World Cup is always a great stage for players to shine on, and several Blues will want to impress new manager Xabi Alonso as much a possible.
Xabi Alonso transformed Bayer Leverkusen into a winning machine, and that was in part because he requested this from his players.
