EVIL has officially made his WWE debut, and it happened in dramatic fashion during the April 28 episode of WWE NXT when he appeared out of nowhere to confront NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo.
The shocking moment went down after Tony D’Angelo came to the ring to cut a promo and received a strong reaction from the crowd. Just as the segment seemed routine, the lights suddenly went out across the arena. When they came back on, a dark figure was seen making his way toward the ring.
That figure turned out to be EVIL. The former IWGP Heavyweight Champion walked into the center of the ring and revealed himself directly in front of Tony D’Angelo, confirming weeks of speculation about when WWE would finally pull the trigger on his debut. Without saying a word, EVIL handed Tony an item marked with the same symbol that appeared on the cryptic box teased on NXT the week prior, instantly tying his arrival into the ongoing mystery storyline.
This debut came after several reports indicated that EVIL wasn’t even assigned to a WWE brand yet, making his sudden appearance on NXT even more notable. Earlier reporting stated that internally, he was still sitting in a holding category rather than being locked into Raw, SmackDown, or NXT. The internal status was previously described in reports detailing how WWE had not yet finalized his placement.
There was also speculation leading into his debut that WWE might not keep the EVIL name once he arrived on television, leaving open the possibility of a rebrand in the future. That possibility had already been discussed in prior reporting tied to expectations coming out of Japan.
With his debut now official, EVIL didn’t ease into WWE quietly. Instead, he walked straight into a segment with the NXT Champion, sending a clear signal that he’s targeting the top of the brand from day one. The lights-out reveal, the confrontation with Tony D’Angelo, and the connection to last week’s mystery box all point to WWE setting up something much bigger moving forward.
What did you think about EVIL making his WWE debut by confronting Tony D’Angelo on NXT? Do you think WWE should push him straight into the NXT Championship picture, or build his story slowly first? Drop your thoughts in the comments and let us know what you think.
